French Press Friday

Today, I tried another French press. Having absolutely loved the one I drank at Avenue Cafe yesterday, I just had to get one again this morning-- this time, at my most favored spot, Who Dat Cafe in Marigny.

My gosh, this one was STRONG. It took me to the moon! Not only was it strong, but it was DELECTABLE and thick and so very smooth. I rarely ever say this, but my morning French press was the only coffee I had all day. It literally carried me from dawn till dusk, and I am still very much awake and alert nearly 12 hours later. That is what I call a successful coffee experience!

Happy Friday!

Happy New Year!

So, 2015 is upon us, as today marks the first of a fresh 365. A few months back, before my boyfriend, our puppy, and I even made our move to New Orleans, I wrote a note to myself which read,

"I'm going to start a blog called, "Brew Dat," which consists of coffee-induced ramblings while I discover New Orleans."

I wrote that to myself on September 17, 2014. We moved to New Orleans from Los Angeles the following month, just in time for all of the spooktacular festivities of the already ghost-ridden city of NOLA.

We. fell. in. love.

We became so immersed in this beautiful city that I completely forgot about my plan to start this new blog. What better time to do so than on the first of the new year? So, with that being said, this blog will not only document coffee-induced ramblings, but I will also take note of all of the unique coffeehouses we find ourselves in, their environments, and the caffeinated beverages we enjoy within them.

For starters, today we enjoyed brunch at the always busy Avenue Cafe on St. Charles in Uptown. There, I enjoyed a chicory French press, and my gosh, was it delicious. I added my usual mix-- honey and cinnamon-- as well as a splash of soy. Not only was this strong source of caffeine seriously smooth, but it had me almost instantly bouncing off the walls. It might even be my new go-to. Sorry, soy latte.

Though, we did make our way to Starbucks later in the day, where I did have my usual- a triple-shot, soy latte. Having recently read an article that revealed soy milk isn't exactly the healthiest of milk options, I will try to replace it regularly with almond milk this year. I'm working on that.

Happy 2015, and may you discover the best of coffee amidst this new year's adventures that lie before us!
